Mary Leone Matthews, age 73, of Washington Court House, passed peacefully with her family by her side at 7:53 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at her home. She was born on March 2, 1951, in Fayette County. She was the daughter of the late Lucas and Thelma Hatter Green. On June 25, 1983, she married her husband of more than forty-one years, Donald R. Matthews, who survives. Mary was a 1969 graduate of Miami Trace High School. After graduating high school, Mary and her mother owned and operated T&M Cake Supplies on Jonesboro Road, where she ended up learning to decorate cakes. Mary worked at Fishers Big Wheel Store for more than twenty-five years until it closed. Mary then worked eighteen more years as a cook for the students and staff at Miami Trace Schools. She was a member of the South Side Church of Christ, where she enjoyed attending the Berean Sunday School class.
